Dean Holmes - Memphis memories
Dean Holmes is a brilliant lecturer and he inspired so many students at RMIT industrial design through the eighties as it grew from Diploma to Degree and on. Dean is one of only a few RMIT students to go on to complete a Royal College of Art Masters degree. We were all enthused by Dean's passion for design and in particular, as it was 1982 when I commenced at RMIT, all that was Memphis. If I recall correctly, Dean had been to Milan around this time and brought an original Memphis poster to class. Not long after I also recall staring at de Lucci first chairs in the Esprit Lygon Street store..... I was hooked. (would love to know where they are today)

NGV has a good Memphis collection, worth a stroll.
