Designed in China - Earthquake emergency door handle

Earthquakes continue to devastate communities worldwide. Emergency products can be very helpful to victims to protect themselves when disaster strikes and speed up the reconstruction after a catastrophe. The recent earthquake in the Chinese city of Ya’an inspired design research into disaster relief. Two innovative concepts are proposed to assist future eathquake victims. The application of innovations in high tech textiles and wifi inspired an emergency curtain. The NAVIGADOOR uses pre warning seismic capability and developments in GPS and 4G networks to assist and lead victims to safety. Designed in China.

Designed in China - Robocart

In a rapid developing society, productivity is the key. Currently building sites in China have a lot of manual labour. Occupational safety hazards and improvements in lifestyle will reduce numbers of willing building workers. Demand for new housing will increase so building site efficiency is essential.
To make deliveries and transportation on site more efficient an innovative autonomous robotic machine is proposed. Design research provided insights into current building methods in China and the design utilises recent developments in technology. The ROBOCART can work in all on site conditions and move on steep inclines to transport and deliver materials. Designed in China

Designed in China - Sling Bike

In modern China, people are living with stress, pressure and they rarely smile. Mobile devices have games and apps but this does not promote exercise and a healthy lifestyle. Design research explored traditional Chinese toys and games but final inspiration was from contemporary digital games like angry birds. The project proposes a toy that will make people happy and engage young adults from 18 to 25 years old. The SLINGBIKE concept is an oversized slingshot on a four wheel electric bike. Water balloons, plush toys and snowballs are the ammunition. Young adults work out and build muscle mass like in a gym. Most of all they have fun! Designed in China

Designed in China - Chinese Water Tree

Water is the source of our life. Everyday we should drink more than four litres of water. In China hot water is used everyday for making tea. In a fast-paced modern society the delivery of hot water can
be made more convenient for the individual. Opportunities for the design of an innovative hot water dispenser we identified though design research methods. The concept is called BILLY WATER which is a system that can dispense different temperatures of water efficiently. The system has facial recognition so is personalised to the individual and has safety as a priority. Design elements are drawn from traditional Chinese themes. Designed in China

Designed in China - Lake Yacht

The demand for small and medium-sized yachts in China will explode as the number of wealthy people increases and consumption levels expand. Suzhou is one of the most developed areas in China. Families are all small in China so large capacity leisure craft are not required. The CRUISER concept is an efficient and stable craft for lakes is based on design research. The trimaran is an innovative new configuration for water craft and the CRUISER adopted this platform. It combines the features of a luxury yacht and sports boat. Designed in China

Designed in China - Beach cleaning robot

Beaches as clean as in paradise! A beach is always a particularly popular place that provides beautiful scenery. There are many beautiful beaches in China, such as Qingdao Bathing Beach, Sanya and Beihai Beach. The beauty of our beaches are impacted by current levels of rubbish left by travellers on the beach, especially during the holidays. Through design research an innovative machine to clean beaches in China is proposed. The concept is called GUARDIAN which is a product service system that can clean up the beach automatically. The innovation point of this design is using bionics to complete the complicated motion of picking rubbish up and move on the beach. Designed in China

Designed in China - Blood collection pod

Medical care in China is rapidly improving and there is a high demand for blood. Blood collection is currently through a system of sterile mobile blood collecting vans. Many patients experience anxiety giving blood with the current system. Rather than invest to improve the existing mobile vans, a futuristic concept is proposed. The PEA POD is an autonomous self-service donating blood terminal. The concept comes from biomimicary of the PEA POD and is based on design research. The innovative PEA POD is a radical departure from the traditional medical setting. The priority is a comfortable feeling instead of a cold and serious one. Designed in China
